Victoria Jamieson and Omar Mohammed Visit Westport and Bridgeport

When the Stars are Scattered Westport Library Visit featured National Book Award Finalists Victoria Jamieson (Illustrator) and Omar Mohammed (Author) and their graphic memoir When the Stars are Scattered about Omar’s childhood in the Daadab refugee camp in Kenya. Victoria and Omar discussed Omar’s story as a refugee and how Victoria helped tell this story visually.

The Westport Library hosted the first event of the day. Guests to this presentation included Staples High School, Fairfield Country Day School and the public. The event was streamed to Bedford Middle School, Coleytown Middle School, Beardsley Elementary and Waltersville School.

At 1:00 PM, Victoria visited Waltersville Elementary. This event was also streamed to other Bridgeport middle schools. Omar visited the school virtually from Kenya three days later.

At 7:00 PM, Victoria returned to the Westport Library to conduct a seminar for teens and adult about graphic noveling. This event wsa open to the public,
